For this tutorial you will need: PSP X and Animation Shop Eye Candy 4000 - Motion Trail Plug In - Here (If you do not have this filter I will provide alternate steps) VM Natural Sparkle Plug In - Here My Zip File - Includes gold and green patterns and rainbow gradient, shamrock tube - Here A nice wide block font
Put your chakra2.jgd into your gradients folder. Open the shamrock tube, and gold and green patterns in PSP. 1. Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels. Flood fill with white and name this layer white BG.
2. Set your foreground style to null, and your background style to the gold pattern. Angle 0 scale 100. Select the font that you are using. Stroke width 2, and set your kerning to about 50 to give us room in between our letters. Make sure that CREATE AS VECTOR is checked.
3. I used caps for my text, type out your name and stretch it out a little bit on your canvas. Move it to the top portion of your canvas so that there is room under it for when we add our motion trail. Once you are happy with the size and position of your text, right click in the layer palette and convert to a raster layer.
4. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Make sure that from this point on you don't move your text with your mouse. Selections, select all. Selections, float. Selections, modify contract by 2 pixels. Selections, save to Alpha Channel.
5. Set your foreground style to the green pattern, angle 0 and scale 100. Add a new raster layer. With your text area still selected, flood fill with the green pattern. Selections, select none. Layers, merge down. (If you are using PSP 7 X out your background layer and layers, merge visible). Add the following drop shadow to your text layer.
6. Duplicate your text layer twice, for a total of 3 text layers. Rename them 1, 2 and 3. Make sure that the top layer is active in your palette.
7. Selections, load from alpha channel. Adjust, add noise using the following settings.
Click on layer 2 to make it active, and again add noise. This time change the % to 32. Click on layer 3 to make it active. Again, add noise but change the % to 39. 8. Selections, select none. Click back on layer 1. Add a new raster layer and name it rainbow. Set your foreground style to gradient with the following settings.
9. Using your selection tool, feather set at 0, draw out a rectangle a little longer than the length of your name and about the same height as mine below. Flood fill the selected area with the rainbow gradient.
10. Selections, select none. Effects, distortion effects, warp, with the following settings.
11. Adjust, blur, motion blur, with the following settings.
12. Position your rainbow over your text, don't worry if it hangs over a little bit. Selections, load from alpha channel. Selections, invert.
Hit delete on your keyboard. This will remove the excess rainbow. Selections, select none. Lower the opacity on this layer to about 80% 13. Copy your shamrock tube and paste it as a new layer. Position it at the bottom of your text. Selections, load from alpha channel. Selections, invert.
Again, hit delete on your keyboard. Selections, select none. 14. Layers, merge down. Duplicate this layer two times, for a total of 3 layers. Rename them 1, 2 and 3. X out all layers except for your layers named "1"
Layers. merge visible. X out this layer and un x your "2" layers. Click on layer 2 to make it active, and layers, merge visible. X out this layer and click on layer 3, and un X both your "3" layers. Layers merge visible. Again, name these layers 1, 2 and 3. 15. X out layers 1, 2 and 3. Click on your white bg to make it active. Add a new raster layer. Change the angle of the gradient to 90, and repeats to 1.
16. Selections, load from alpha channel. Flood fill your selection with the gradient.
Selections, select none. If you do not have eye candy 4000 then do this step. If you have Eye Candy, skip to step 17. Adjust, blur gaussian blur. Radius 10. Skip ahead to step 18. 17. Effects, plugins, Eye Candy 4000 with the following settings.
18. Duplicate this layer two times for a total of 3 layers. Rename them 1,2 and 3. With layer 1 active, effects, plugins, VM Natural Sparkle using the following settings.
Click on layer 2 of your background. Apply sparkle again, but this time change the Random seed to 80. Click on layer 3 of your background. Apply the sparkle again, only change the random seed to 60. X out layer 1 and 2 of your background and the white bg layer. Un X your top layer 1. Layers, merge visible. X out this layer. Click on layer 2 to make it active and un x both of your "2" layers. Layers, merge visible. X out this layer. Un x your "3" layers and click on one of them to make them active. Layers, merge visible. At this stage, you can delete your white background layer by clicking on it to make it active, then clicking 19. You will be left with 3 layers. Un X them all and name them 1, 2 and 3. Right click on your layer 2 and duplicate it. Drag it to the bottom of your palette. Now your layers will go 1,2,3,copy of 2. File.. save as.
20. Open Animation Shop. File.. open and browse for your rainbowtext. You should see all 4 frames in AS. Edit, select all. Animation, animation properties, change it to white (or your background color).
